Is it just my little corner of Vox that's gone quiet, or are there fewer people posting regularly on Vox these days?
I'm not loving it. They replaced a perfectly functional and useful interface with something clunky and messy. I miss the homepage with all its conveniently gathered information about my neighbours and about what's up at Vox. I liked the TIG section. I liked the VoxHunt and QotD together at the top of the page.
I don't like having to search through multiple pages to keep up to date with my neighbourhood. I don't like the fact that the only content on the new homepage is the last few posts from my neighbours. I want to see all the recent activity, especially recent comments from threads I'm participating in.
The changes make the Vox environment a much less appealing place to hang out. I'm visiting my neighbours less often and haven't posted at all since the "upgrade". I hope the SixApart people pay attention to the criticisms and suggestions of their users and either restore the old homepage layout, or tweak the new layout extensively to bring back all the missing information.
I'm posting this mainly just to see if I can. These personality tests pop up everywhere and I've wondered how people get the html to work on Vox. Turns out that it's very easy - all you have to do is cut and paste the code into your post and Vox does the rest.
Here you have it - my first personality test. They're rather like horoscopes - so general as to fit everyone. But, I only had to answer a few questions to come up with this result and, even though I'm not sure about the applicability (to me) of the words they've picked to describe INFP's, when I've typed myself before, I've always been an INFP. So I'll believe it just this once!
Your Personality is Very Rare (INFP)
Your personality type is dreamy, romantic, elegant, and expressive.
Only about 5% of all people have your personality, including 6% of all women and 4% of all men
You are Introverted, Intuitive, Feeling, and Perceiving.
Clicking idly through Vox postings this afternoon, I found a post about tea with a funny picture that reminded me just how much of a tea fiend I am. I can stop drinking alcohol, give up sugar and wheat and yeast if I have to, even stop eating chocolate and ice cream, but no tea is a real hardship. I didn't have caffeinated tea when I was pregnant and it was a struggle. I'm a tea addict. I like everything about it - the little rituals like making sure that the tea pot is warm and that the water is boiling properly when you pour it; going to tea stores to smell and handle all the different varieties; visiting Infuze of a Saturday afternoon with Travis to drink Black Dragon Oolong (and toast Bertie Wooster who's often in need of "a bit of the old oolong"); finding new brands like Numi Teas to try; buying the perfect tea mug (I have a large collection of cups in storage in Vancouver and they, along with my books, are the things I miss most); I'm hooked.
And I'm not alone in my addiction. A friend of mine told me a nice story about a friend of hers back in the days when they were all aspiring drama geeks. They were hanging out discussing sex, as you do, and her friend said that if given a choice between sex and a really good cup of tea, she might just choose the tea. My friend was horrified. She figured that her friend's sex-life must have been pretty damn awful. She's not a tea-drinker, of course. In fact she does terrible things like bunging all her tea bags, black and herbal, in the same container, so that they all end up tasting vaguely of whatever herb's the strongest. Not good. I wouldn't go as far as my friend's friend - there are times when tea is simply not going to cut it - but I'm with her on the sensual appeal of a good cuppa.
And then there are the tea sayings - "tea, the drink that cheers but does not inebriate" and "cup of tea and a lie down" as in "I think I need a cup of tea and a lie down." are my favorites.
