Tuesday Petra
I haven't posted for a few days because I've had my friend K visiting from Toronto. It's been lovely to have her here and to chat chat chat. She's off seeing the sights at the moment. She'll squeeze in more of the country in 6 days than I've managed in 2 years. When you live somewhere, you don't rush around like a tourist and when you live somewhere while you're pregnant, you don't rush around at all it turns out.
Petra also enjoyed K's company. After a period of mutual staring, Petra accorded K most favoured person status and put on lots of cute little shows for her.
It's been a busy couple of weeks development-wise for Petra. She's pulling herself up on things and has discovered the delights of crawling off on her own to explore. She has an uncanny ability to sense an unattended cord or wire in any room upstairs and rushes off to pull on them whenever she can. Her balance and body control have improved amazingly since her first wobbly efforts to move around. She can balance on her hands and feet to investigate her toy shelf. And she can bounce on her knees and catch herself with her hands when she tips forward.
As well as enjoying her new independence, she's enjoying playing with anyone who will play. She's delighted to have our attention when she plays and loves showing us what she can do. She's also increasingly keen on having us play with her. I put one of her stacking cups on my head a couple of days ago, which she found mildly amusing. Then I let it fall into my lap, and that was just hilarious. It was so funny that we had to do it over and over, giggling hard enough that K came over to find out what we were doing that was so much fun. Petra's delight is wonderfully infectious - I love to play with her.
Here she is climbing up my leg.
